Curiosity slakes the thirst.

I’ve noticed that people who read a lot of blogs and a lot of books also tend to be intellectually curious, thirsty for knowledge, quicker to adopt new ideas and more likely to do important work. I wonder which comes first, the curiosity or the success?

That’s an easy one for me, Seth. I’ll definitely say the curiosity.

Without curiosity, there’s no impetus to get better at what one does. And, without that impetus, there’s no hope for success.

When you keep trying, over and over again, to find ways to satisfy your curiosities1, sooner or later the result of that curiosity will make you more successful.

That’s why I’m reading a lot these days. Not just stuff online, but in honest-to-God books2. I’ve found my voice and the forums in which I want to present and share my ideas. I just want to get so much better at doing that. Hopefully by doing so I will realize the type of success that I want to achieve on that front.

  1. Your curiosities can be as simple as a mere thirst for knowledge or it can be as great as continuously searching for new ways to approach a problem.
  2. I can almost justify buying a Kindle now. Almost.
