Why does it have to be zombies?
It’s Halloween again, and I was inspired this morning by a post on my CEO’s blog about the things that scare him. So, I figured I’d share what scares me for no good reason.
Zombies are on the top of my list. They scare the shit out of me. And, for some reason I’ve given a lot of thought over the past couple of weeks as to why. That in itself is weird – I haven’t seen any zombie movies lately (I typically avoid them at all costs) but yet… Hmm.
First thing I thought of was that vampires do not scare me in the same way that zombies do. They are both undead creatures that feed upon the living but yet vampires are not as scary. Perhaps it has to do with the fact that I once had a girlfriend who thought she was a vampire and she bit me on a couple of occasions. Just in case you don’t know, it’s really annoying to have someone bite you for no good reason.
Anyway, I digress.
I have this fear that when I turn on the light in my garage at night that there’ll be zombies waiting. Or, more scary to me, when I turn on the light in the basement there’ll be zombies outside the patio door ready to crash through the glass.
I think the thing that gives them a horrific edge over vampires is that zombies have no will and have no problems tearing you limb from limb. Vampires are smart and usually charming and will only bite.
Bottom line – zombies scare me (and piss me off for much the same reason).
I don’t understand why so many people enjoy zombies and would welcome them into their daily lives. The Zombie Survival and Defense Wiki has an article that attempts to explain this fascination but I still don’t quite get it. Why would you want something around that could bite your head? Ouch.
Enough of my rambling about zombies. Have a Happy Halloween, and I’ll see you tomorrow as I kick off NaBloPoMo.
