Beat The Geeks vs. The World Series of Pop Culture… FIGHT!
Over the past couple of weeks I have been enjoying The World Series of Pop Culture on VH1 (except for Team Cheetara… yikes). Anymore, it seems like pop culture is what VH1 does best, which to me is somewhat strange. I grew up during the time that VH1 was a boil on the rump of pop culture while MTV was pop culture central. For the emo and hip hop set I’m sure it still is, but I haven’t had the stomach to watch MTV since they took Sifl & Olly off the air. Bastards.
But, I digress. WSOPC has been a lot of fun to watch. Much more so than Comedy Central’s attempt at pop culture entertainment… Beat The Geeks. This is due, no doubt, to VH1′s pop culture savvy. However, the sad thing about it is that it may not be turned into a series. It would be incredibly easy to do. How, you ask? Simple. After a champion is crowned, conduct another qualifying round, reseed the brackets, and then the next champion goes head to head with the previous champion for ultimate pop culture dorkdom.
//UPDATE: Since the time of this writing, I’ve found that VH1 is indeed courting interested parties for another WSPOC. I, of course, submitted my information. I would stand a better than average chance of winning. I would name my team The John Hughes Blues Explosion.
