Eichler Homes

eichler.jpgAlright, so the obsession with the Fine Living Network continues. A weekend or two ago, I found out that my favorite magazine, Dwell has its own 30 minute show on the Fine Living Network.

I’ve been recording and watching a number of episodes and I saw a piece on Eichler Homes this evening that blew me away. This Eichler chap built affordable yet modern homes in the 50s and 60s in Southern California. There are many Eichler homes still in existence today and are sought after at a premium by discriminating homeowners that want a timeless modern design.

Everyone sits around and sketches dream homes, etc. but tonight I saw examples of what I would dream of in a home in Eichler’s work. I’d give just about anything to have an Eichler floor plan to build an Eichler-inspired home here in Kansas City.

  • You can find another great resource for mid-century mod Joseph Eichler homes at http://www.EichlerforSale.com</p>

  • Yes! That is very helpful. Seems that these Drummond homes are as in short supply as a good Eichler in CA. However, I did see that there was a developer who did a home last year based off these ideas, so at least now that gives me someone to contact when I’m in the market.

  • hi there, came across your post while looking for eichler articles for my website.
