Traffic Spike thanks to Cool Site of the Day!
I just happened to check my Mint stats for my group of sites for the past couple of days, searching through the Visits section:
“59 visits Thursday… ugh. 149 on Friday… eh… Today, 2,497.”
“2,497? WTF?”
Yes, 2,497 visits by noon. A quick check of my referrers revealed the source of my new found popularity. This Saturday, Tiki Bar: The Animated Series was featured as a Cool Site on Mike Corso’s Cool Site of the Day! I remember about 10 years ago when CSotD was THE site for finding new and interesting links, and I’m really pretty surprised (albeit glad) that the site is still around.
At the end of the day I had 4,087 visits to Tiki Bar, this site, as well as my portfolio. Sure, to some that’s nothing, but considering that I received twice the traffic in 24 hours than I typically see in an entire month, well, I’m pretty stoked.
It’s actually some strange coincidence (or is it?) that the site got chosen as a Cool Site. I had some revelations regarding the project on Thursday night that I’ll share in an upcoming post.
