Thought Showers?

Apparently those who seek to find offense in all things have now turned their myopic eye to the creative process, stating that the term “brainstorming” is politically incorrect and insensitive to those with brain injuries such as epilepsy, opting instead to use the more sensitive term “thought showers.”

Really? First, how many of those affected by brain injuries have so little to do or are so socially delicate that they complain that such a term is offensive or insensitive? I doubt that there are very many. They’re most likely too busy living their lives just as fully as those without injuries of that nature.

Secondly, how long did these fellows “shower” to come up with such a lame, milquetoast term? The whole term gives creative thinking such a unicorns and rainbows weak feel to it that it seems like my thoughts should be trickling out of my head like so much warm water that’s been in my ear canal after swimming for an extended period. At least “brainstorming” has some power to it. The term itself empowers and owns the process… it exudes comfidence. “Thought showerers” might as well have termed it “mind tinkling” or “idea wee wee.”
